ocularist is an english/kosovan breakcore duo formed in 2021 by olti krasniqi and marcus keeton.

known for their onslaught of mashed up beats and breaks, they also focus on noise, glitch, ambient, idm, and other similar genres. although formerly producing independently, they began working together in the summer of 2021, when they produced 'manifest the biennale' - an album consisting of their earliest experimentations with the breakcore genre, as well as noise. since then, they have gone on to publish more releases, including a double album on cd (mashitup!) and an ep on clear 7" (warning: superlative cadences).

on the 7th of july 2023, they established the south england hate club label. heavily inspired by the do-it-yourself nature of the physical breakcore scene, they began creating limited slimline cds, which would soon make their way all across the world, and land them collaborations with renowned names in the scene, like toecutter, istari lasterfahrer, wawawa, and more.

as of december 2024, they are working on their 5th full-length album, expected to release in mid-june on their own label. 'cavalier attitudes' is out soon. includes remasters and alternative mixes of 'ultraportable skin graft' and 'gullysidescrewface' from the 7".

apologies for the lack in updates, but ocularist is back on the road again! some releases lined up this year for the ocularist project and the south england hate club label (see this page for sehc news at the moment - page is still under construction):

> 25th march 2025: '1980s LSD hypnosis seminar' (apollo bitrate) - tomorrow comes a masterclass in cryptic and abstracted IDM-style flash/glitchcore straight from the fierciest bedroom producer of today - apollo bitrate. on south england hate club, limited to 25 jewel case cds, along with artwork that perfectly reflects the vibe of the rollercoaster of a record. cd/digital purchase comes with extra tracks, including a megamix of 3 remixes of 'do you like firecrackers?', by arcade trauma, nitroii, and bypass, as well as some other bonus tracks that were emitted from the original release for various reasons. stay tuned - it's absolutely relentless!

> may 2025: 'grimesthorpestyle' - promo ep for 'cavalier attitudes', out in autumn. a janky sonic collage of breakcore, jungle, garage, grime, and everything inbetween. features vocals from both head honchos on 'stone hearts' (abridged version - full version to appear on 'cavalier attitudes'). cd release to come in digipak!

> autumn 2025: 'cavalier attitudes' - broken down beats and heavy bass crunkstep-breakcore fusion works. the first full-length since 'mashitup!' is not to be missed - a fresh new style that blends all sorts of niche english subgenres into the classic ocularist mashup breakcore style, which has since taken a detour towards a darker and more sincere sound. brutal!

> 7th august 2025: 'south england hate club - sampler 3' (v/a) - need i say more? breakcore aficionados from all over the world (bagel fanclub, wawawa, etc...) unite to deliver you the sonic assault of the summer - a full disc of no-holds-barred glitchcore, punky mashcore, melodic splittercore, and experimental drum and bass. are you ready?

2025 approaching. new website, yo. but that's not all. 2023 opened a ton of new opportunities for us: a new label of our own, fresh sounds, fresh designs, fresh everything.

and 2024 was even better! ocularist is just beginning. june came with our first vinyl release, and 'cavalier attitudes' is out next june, along with digipak cds and 12"s. until then, the music section's gonna be bursting at the seams with new tracks to keep the crowd satiated. as well as that, a lot has happened since last january! interviews, new releases - all the lot. if you wanna get your ocularist fix, check out the interview we did with stockport swimming team, owner of welcome to clydebank, who will also be making an appearance on the next south england hate club sampler (out august 2025), so keep your eyes peeled!

the interview is linked below. roll safe and never surrender.

we're out with a new megamix with a runtime of 24 minutes and 26 songs smashed together into a huge mess.

(excerpt from bandcamp description): 'second in the 'series', ocularist is back to bless your ears with something vaguely resemblant of kid606's 'up from dabassment' or even more vaguely resemblant of dj /rupture's 'gold teeth thief' (neither of which are similar to this mix whatsoever but it's good that they were mentioned because now people will have their expectations high).

in just under a month, we managed to throw together this noisy amalgamation which manages to squeeze cex and d12 together, as well as bjork and hrvatski, as well as george michael and christoph de babalon, etc.'

ocularist is back, yet again! we are sorry for the huge gap in updates, we've been very busy working hard trying to squeeze out tracks and albums and sets and mixes for everyone to hear.

firstly - happy new year to everybody! secondly - the amphibian ocularist remix is confirmed to release on platforms on the 25th, and thirdly and most importantly - the second ocularist megamix is underway - a 180bpm cacophony of gorillaz, doormouse, kid606, bjork, outkast, hrvatski, and more! expect to hear it live on youtube sometime around the end of january, probably accompanied by some visuals of us doing stupid shit.. thanks for reading

ocularist is back and here to bless the general public with a short track that will appear on the forthcoming emcd christmas comp: 'last christmas i gave you nothing'

it's a one minute track completely composed of wham's 'last christmas' and involves lots of audio scrambling and glitching, etc. out soon so keep an eye on emcd

23/12/22

the remix is finished! and it has been posted under the title 'amphibian (ocularist's crackdown raggacore mix)' on soundcloud - here is the link:

remix progress:

21/12/22

yesterday, electronic musician radium asked several people over instagram if they would like to remix tracks off his upcoming ep, 'good luck'.
in response, we took up this offer and hence the track 3 'amphibian' ocularist raggacore mix was born.

it is currently underway but updates will be posted down the line.

it is currently 10:57am as this is being written and no further progress on mashitup! has been made.
the next track we make will probably sample gorillaz or eminem or both and probably some other half-rapping ass bitches just for contrast

and it is now currently 11:46pm as this is being written and still no progress has been made except for a eurodance mashup megamix that was ditched after some 35 odd minutes of work.
please tune in later tonight or tomorrow for more updates

19/12/22

4. the olti amin kevin track [3:24]

6. the sickest soundclash since 2007 [4:05]
7. words can't convey what i want to get across from you [1:12]
8. recent mashcore material [4:51]
9. ocularist will have their revenge on sheffield [5:01]
10. ocularist will have their revenge on reading [6:33]
11. modern breakcore is rubbish [1:01]

5. no more exclamations [4:54]
6. 40% alcohol by volume [5:45]
7. theme from miami's manhattanization [4:03]

and track 12 on disc 2 is going to be a 10-15 minute mix to continue the ocularist tradition of putting long mixes at the end of every album - will feature a remix of 'i'm sorry for being so good at making tracks' as well as a previously unheard raggacore track or two...

if we end up sampling babylon bwoy again, please come find us in reading or sheffield and please punch us hard and/or smash several glass bottles over our heads. thank you
